SUICIDE AWARENESS MONTH
September is Suicide Awareness Month. MUSD School Social Workers will be providing information and resources to educate students on the facts of suicide among teens. “Suicide is preventable. Most suicidal individuals want to live but are unable to see any alternative resolution to their problems.” (www.suicidology.org) Unfortunately, shame still prevents young people with mental health difficulties from getting the help they need. The great news is help is available and mental health treatment works! Our goal is to create a supportive environment on campus in which people can speak up and seek support with #NoSHAME. “BE a LIFESAVER!” Stop by the Courtyard on Monday, September 12th, during lunch, to get more information and/or speak to someone who cares.

Getting into college is something that students have to work towards starting as soon as they step foot on this campus. What is a transcript? What specific courses should a student have on their transcripts? What qualities makes a college applicant more desirable? Extracurriculars? Community Service? Why is it important to take the PSAT? This presentation targets mainly 9th and 10th graders and their parents, however upper classmen are also welcome. Presented by the Executive Board of the MHS Chapter of the California Scholarship Federation (CSF). Please join us for an evening that will be filled with valuable information. Light refreshments will be available.
